300,000 iPads Sold on Opening Day

Apple today said it sold more iPads on Saturday than it sold first-generation iPhones in 2007 over a two-day period, including one to the deranged idiot in this video.
The 300,000 number that Apple touted included deliveries of pre-ordered iPads, sales at Apple’s retail stores and shipments to its partners, the company said. The only other retail outlet selling iPads on Saturday was Best Buy.

Four In Five Think Internet Is ‘A Fundamental Right’

Four in five adults believe access to the Internet is a fundamental right, and half believe it should never be regulated, according to a global survey, a worldwide survey for the BBC has revealed.
The poll of 27,000 adults in 26 countries for the BBC World Service showed that 78 percent of Internet users believed the Web gave them greater freedom, while nine in 10 said it was a good place to learn.

Three(3) Google executives were convicted on Wednesday of violating privacy laws by allowing disturbing footage of a disabled Italian boy being bullied to be posted on the internet.  The ruling was the first of its kind in history and was condemned by critics as “the biggest threat to internet freedom we have seen”.

Dubai Making Plans to Sell the Queen Elizabeth 2

Dubai is reportedly preparing to sell a host of assets, including one of the world’s best known cruise ships, as the emirate’s investment arm looks to restructure a mountain of debt.
The Queen Elizabeth II, or QE2, is rumored to be one of the assets that Dubai’s state-run private equity firm, Istithmar World, is planning to sell. An Istithmar spokesman did not respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.

Mutant Sheep Born With Human Face

A sheep gave birth to a dead lamb with a human-like face. The lamb was born in a village not far from the city of Izmir, Turkey.
Erhan Elibol, a vet, performed a caesarean on the animal to take the lamb out, but was horrified to see that the features of the lamb’s snout bore a striking resemblance to a human face.

Nasa’s new planet-hunting telescope has discovered its first five worlds beyond our Solar System.
Numerous planets have been found before by other telescopes, such as Hubble, but the sole mission of the Kepler observatory – launched last year – has been to find potential ‘Earths’ elsewhere in our galaxy.
